TCM Conference 2023

The third German-Chinese Conference on Traditional Chinese Medicine took place from 13 to 14 September. The event was broadcast live to a wide audience from the Kaiserin-Friedrich-Stiftung für das ärztliche Fortbildungswesen in Berlin.

Experts in discussion

The conference saw a lively exchange between representatives from medicine, healthcare and health policy, along with discussion of the latest research findings in TCM. Around 200 participants from China and Germany benefited from the exchange on TCM and integrative medicine.

Conference programme

On the first day, the two-day conference focused on the differing perspectives and approaches of Western and Chinese medicine. The second day showcased the innovative potential of TCM in medical treatment, for example in the treatment of long COVID and in dietetics.

Overview of fasting methods

Prof. Dr. Andreas Michalsen (Chief Physician, Department of Naturopathy at Immanuel Krankenhaus Berlin, and holder of the endowed professorship for clinical naturopathy at Charité – Universitätsmedizin Berlin) presented various fasting methods for the prevention and treatment of metabolic diseases.

Perspectives on integrative medicine, prevention and TCM

Prof. Dr. Georg Seifert (specialist in paediatrics and adolescent medicine, Charité – Universitätsmedizin Berlin) presented perspectives on integrative medicine, prevention and TCM and reported on research into integrative medicine in nursing care, as well as further planned projects.
