02 Hosting and server logs
Our website is hosted by Modern-WebDesign.com, Daniel Dittmar, Herrentälchen 40, 98574 Schmalkalden. For server operation, Modern-WebDesign.com uses Mittwald CM Service GmbH & Co. KG, Königsberger Straße 4-6, 32339 Espelkamp, as a sub-processor. The servers are located in Germany. We have concluded a data processing agreement with the host pursuant to Art. 28 GDPR.
When you access our website, the server processes technically necessary data in log files: IP address, date and time, the address accessed, the volume of data transferred, the previously visited page (referrer), and browser and operating system. We require these data in order to deliver the website and to ensure its stability and security. The legal basis is Art. 6(1)(f) GDPR; our legitimate interest lies in the secure and error-free operation of the website. The logs are stored only for as long as necessary for this purpose and are deleted thereafter.
03 No cookies, no advertising services
We do not use cookies or any third-party advertising, marketing or tracking services when you visit our website. Fonts, images and software libraries are loaded exclusively from our own server; no connection to third parties is established when a page is loaded. Only when you log in as an editor to the protected administration area does the WordPress content management system set technically necessary login cookies (Section 25(2) No. 2 TDDDG).
04 Visitor statistics
In order to understand which content is in demand, we record anonymous visitor numbers using the “WP Statistics” software. The analysis runs entirely on our own server; no cookies are set and no data are transmitted to third parties. IP addresses are truncated and irreversibly encrypted (hashed) before processing, so that no conclusions can be drawn about your identity; the country of origin is determined from the truncated address. If “Do Not Track” is enabled in your browser, you will not be recorded. The legal basis is Art. 6(1)(f) GDPR; our legitimate interest lies in designing our services to meet demand.
05 Protection against attacks
To protect the website against attacks (e.g. large numbers of login attempts or automated requests), we use the security software “Defender”, which likewise runs on our own server. If an IP address attracts attention through suspicious access patterns, it is temporarily blocked; the associated entries (IP address, time, reason) are deleted after 30 days. The legal basis is Art. 6(1)(f) GDPR; our legitimate interest lies in protecting the website and the data stored on it.
06 Registration and enquiry form
If you use our form to enquire about participating in an event or study tour, we process the data you provide there (title, name, institution, position, address, email address, preferred form of participation and your message). The enquiry is stored in our content management system and additionally forwarded to our team by email. We use the data to process your enquiry and to organise the event. The legal basis is Art. 6(1)(b) GDPR. The data are deleted as soon as they are no longer required for the conduct and follow-up of the event, unless statutory retention obligations apply.
To protect against automated misuse, the form validates entries without any external service (no reCAPTCHA or similar). In doing so, your IP address is stored only as a non-reversible check value for a maximum of 24 hours in order to curb repeated mass submissions.
07 Contact by email, telephone or WeChat
If you contact us by email, telephone or WeChat, we process your details in order to deal with your request. The legal basis is Art. 6(1)(b) GDPR where your enquiry relates to a contract or participation, otherwise Art. 6(1)(f) GDPR (legitimate interest in responding to enquiries). If you contact us via WeChat, the privacy provisions of the provider Tencent also apply. The WeChat code on our website is a simple image – no data are transmitted to Tencent when it is displayed.
08 External registration platform
For certain events, such as the German Hospital Day (Deutscher Krankenhaustag), we link to the respective organiser’s registration page on eveeno (eveeno.com). You only leave our website when you click on the link; registration there is subject to the privacy notices of the respective organiser and of eveeno.
09 YouTube videos
We only embed videos of past conferences after you have expressly clicked on them. Until then, you will see only a placeholder served from our own server. Only when you click is a connection to YouTube established via the enhanced privacy mode (youtube-nocookie.com); the provider is Google Ireland Limited, Gordon House, Barrow Street, Dublin 4, Ireland. In the process, data – in particular your IP address – may be transmitted to Google and also processed in the USA. Google is certified under the EU-US Data Privacy Framework. The legal basis is your consent given by clicking (Art. 6(1)(a) GDPR, Section 25(1) TDDDG); it applies only to the video in question.
10 LinkedIn and other links
Our LinkedIn profile and references to partner websites are simple links. Data are only transmitted if you follow a link; the privacy notices of the respective provider then apply.
11 Your rights
You have the right of access to the data we hold about you (Art. 15 GDPR), the right to rectification (Art. 16), erasure (Art. 17) and restriction of processing (Art. 18), the right to data portability (Art. 20), and the right to object, on grounds relating to your particular situation, to processing based on Art. 6(1)(f) GDPR (Art. 21). You may withdraw any consent you have given at any time with effect for the future. To do so, simply contact us at the address given above.
You also have the right to lodge a complaint with a data protection supervisory authority, for example the Berlin Commissioner for Data Protection and Freedom of Information (Berliner Beauftragte für Datenschutz und Informationsfreiheit), which is responsible for us, Alt-Moabit 59–61, 10555 Berlin.
